Beijing Capitol Airport

Category: General

We chased the sun for 20 hours

From Minneapolis to Beijing

And somewhere before Tokyo

We lost a day

We were greeted in the airport

By children on the billboards

Smiles on their faces

Like whitewash on tombs

And the night was falling fast

As the tide began to rise

In the ocean of taxis

All yearning for our hire

The smokestacks billow

And the smog hangs low

And mingles in the ancient, Asian trees

And the taxi drivers race

to win first place

all dressed up and no place to go...

...at the Beijing capital airport

As we drove that China road

On the way to our hotel

I was struck by all the passers-by

Where are they going to?

Do they even care?

Are they pedaling to Heaven or to Hell?

And the rain was falling fast

And the tears began to rise

Amidst this ocean of people,

That cannot open their eyes.

The smokestacks billow

And the smog hangs low

And mingles in the ancient, asian trees

And the taxi drivers race

to win first place

all dressed up and no place to go...

...at the Beijing capital airport
