Count the Cost
Category: General

A young boy looking at an Army poster
telling him he's gonna see the world,
So he goes to the desk and says "where do I sign?"
"Hold on son," comes a voice from behind...
You've got to count the cost,
consider your loss,
is this cause worth your sacrifice?
Should you fight this fight?
Should you shine this light?
Do you feel honored just to serve on this side?
A young man standing at the marriage altar,
looking his fair, young maiden in the eyes
Then the minister said something about "better and worse" times,
and the words kind of caught him by surprise
You've got to count the cost,
consider your loss,
is this cause worth your sacrifice?
Should you fight this fight?
Should you shine this light?
Do you feel honored just to serve by her side?
A perfect Man hanging on a tree to die,
He can't move His hands to wipe the tears from His eyes
"It is finished" was His cry,
then they thrust a spear in His side
Did He count the cost?
consider His loss?
Was our cause worth His sacrifice?
Should He have fought that fight?
Should He have shone that light?
Did He feel honored just to serve on our side?
So my friends, have you counted the cost?
Have you traded in your comfort for a wooden cross?
For in the end, we're all appointed to die,
but not all are appointed to abundant life.
You've got to count the cost,
consider your loss,is this cause worth your sacrifice?
Should you fight this fight?
Should you shine this light?
Do you feel honored just to serve by His side?
