11. The Rombom
For a moment, he almost forgot that he was in the shadow of a mysterious, furry, man-eating beast. He gazed up at the dark form towering over him and realized they were on the top of a tall mountain. The creature was framed by the vibrant blue of sky and sea in the distance. The beast’s head cocked slightly to the right and stared down at Gus from two stories up. It was hard for him to make out the creature’s expression as its large head was blocking out the bright sun. Gus rolled up onto his knees and let his eyes adjust to the shadow of the beast.
“Hello!” Gus raised his hand in a slight wave.
