18. The Army
They had been marching all morning through the cool, blue of the Toolian forest. Hundreds of wooden-clad Toola soldiers marched behind them with their long spears bobbing up and down. Each soldier’s armor was hand-carved with unique forms and patterns—but they all worked together uniformly. Arthur had been given a wooden breastplate that was much too big for him—and yet—it made him feel a little more protected. Although, if Frederick was right and the pirates possessed dozens of cannons it didn’t seem like their wooden armor would be doing much good.
