23. The Hope
Teeku burst out of the dense smoke, and locked his eyes on Winnifred, who was still behind the helm. He shouted an order to his men in their own tongue as he batted small pirates away with his club on both sides, making his way toward the captain of the ship. Just then, a roar filled his ears, and the giant form of Broog leapt from the helm—landing just in front of Teeku, and swinging a heavy sword over his head. Teeku met his blade with the hard, dark wood of his Toolian club. The wood dented, but held firm. Teeku kicked Broog in the gut, sending him flying backward as he groaned and crashed into a keg of gunpowder. Powder flew everywhere.
