The great bird reared back her head again and looked around, just as the boys began to do the same. The few pirates that had accompanied Winnifred were still cowering, but the walrus was nowhere to be seen. 

“Blast it! He’s gone!” 

Just then, one of the pirates grabbed his gun and pointed it toward the hulking bird. The Koolatius snapped the pirate up with her beak, and swallowed him straight down her great gullet. He then proceeded to chomp up the rest of the scurvy brutes, and a few snicker-snacks later, they were gone.

The boys looked on in fear and wonder. What a wonderful, terrible animal! thought Alexander.
